It is not just technical superiority alone that has made us a leading offshore contractor. It is also the fact we have made our focus on Quality, Environment, Safety and Health (QESH) an integral part of our culture and business operations.
Our approach to QESH is captured in an integrated management system that is available throughout the company. This system encompasses online tools, manuals and procedures, which allows for easy use, training and adjustment.
Quality
By standardizing our processes, we manage our work more efficiently. Our people are responsible for using these standards and train new staff in their use. Regular audits allow us to adjust and improve our approach.
Our management system also enables us to offer our clients the reliable service they expect. Our approach to QESH is an integral part of each tender and project . Third-party suppliers must meet our QESH standards.
HMC embraced management systems as early as 1984 and we have been ISO-9001/2000 certified since 1995.
Environment
We believe that we should leave the environment the way we found it.
That is why we have installed oil collection systems on our vessels and why all our vessel waste is processed by certified waste disposal companies. In addition, we only use the most environmentally friendly diesel available in order to ensure zero emissions of sulphurs.
Safety
It is important to ensure that our people and subcontractors work in a safe environment. In 2006, we managed to achieve our lowest rate of lost time incidents (0.81 per million worked hours) and total recordable incidents (2.23 per million worked hours). Health
Our goal is to create a safe and healthy working environment for our staff, subcontractors and clients on our vessels and sites. We are currently conducting an investigation on board of our vessels to identify issues we can improve that can impact our people’s health, such as light, noise, working conditions, vibrations, work load and welding smoke. We aim to reduce or eliminate these risks.
