Delta and VolkerWessels sign an agreement with Heerema Marine Contractors for the redevelopment of their offices in Leiden
Delta, VolkerWessels and Heerema Marine Contractors (HMC) today reached agreement on the redevelopment of their former office building at Vondellaan 47 in Leiden. The building has been empty since the relocation of HMC in 2005 due to lack of office space. The building will now be demolished and HMC's new sustainable headquarters will be built in its place. According to plan the property will be completed in late 2014.
The growth of the organization led to the search for new premises. "We are pleased that we have found an opportunity to meet our housing needs in Leiden and on an existing property location. This new step allows us to facilitate the future growth of our business and provide our employees with a workplace that fits the current zeitgeist", says Jan-Pieter Klaver, CEO of Heerema Marine Contractors.

The city of Leiden is also pleased with Heerema's decision. Municipal councillor Pieter van Woensel (Planning): "It's fantastic that a large international company continues to opt for Leiden."
Delta was selected for its efficient design incorporating the new way of working, a modest but appropriate character in the group, and providing a very sustainable solution as a redevelopment of an existing property location. "This project perfectly fits Delta's philosophy in which, in addition to sustainability, redevelopment is one of the important pillars. The experience we have gained in many of our redevelopment projects, often in partnership with VolkerWessels, is extremely useful here," says Coert Zachariasse, CEO of Delta Development Group.
The office is being built by Wessels Zeist, the basic design is the work of OPL Architects in Utrecht.
