Vineyard Wind: Heerema participates in largest US Offshore Wind Project
Dutch offshore contractor Heerema has been assigned to help build the first and largest commercial offshore wind farm in the United States. The prestigious 'Vineyard Wind LLC' project is the nation's first utility-scale offshore wind energy project. Situated 14 miles off the coast of Massachusetts, this project will generate clean, renewable, cost-competitive energy for over 400,000 homes and businesses, while reducing carbon emissions by over 1.6 million tons per year.
The contract for Heerema comprises in the (offshore) transport and installation (T&I) of 84 foundations consisting of monopiles and transition pieces and appurtenant ESP platforms in the Northeast of the US near the island of Martha's Vineyard.

The construction is expected to start next year and the wind farm is scheduled to be operational in 2021.
Heerema's Sleipnir, the world's largest semi-submersible crane vessel demonstrated at the weekend that despite its size, the vessel could navigate through even the tightest of spaces. Sleipnir entered the Karmsund Strait en route to Haugesund, Norway, to lift Equinor's Snorre A Module.

Heerema's Sleipnir, the world's most powerful semi-submersible crane vessel yesterday, received the largest LNG bunkering ever completed. Titan LNG organized the bunkering, using Coral Fraseri, Anthony Veder's LNG carrier in the Port of Rotterdam. A collaboration of four Dutch companies who have united to make history for sustainability in The Netherlands.
