Esso Norge A/S awarded Heerema Tønsberg an EPCI contract for the Ringhorne Platform. Heerema Tønsberg subcontracted the transport and installation to Heerema Marine Contractors Nederland BV.

The Ringhorne platform was located in the Norwegian part of the North Sea at a  water depth of 129m. In November 2001, the H-113 cargo barge with the Living Quarters was towed from Gothenburg to Tønsberg, where the Living Quarters were pre-rigged and put on stand-by until final transport and installation in May 2002.

In December 2001, the H-404 cargo barge with drilling facilities was towed from Zwijndrecht to Tønsberg, where Smit lifted these modules onto the Deck. In April 2002, barge H-627 with the jacket and barge H-122 with the piles was towed from Vlissingen to the Ringhorne installation site. The jacket was lifted off the barge, upended and set down by the SSCV Thialf, all as a dual crane operation.

For the topsides installation in May 2002, the H-113 with the Living Quarters, Flare Boom and Pedestal Crane and the H-541 with the Integrated Deck, were towed from Tønsberg to the Ringhorne installation site. The Deck was lifted and set down on the jacket by the SSCV Thialf as a dual crane operation. The Living Quarters were installed as a single crane lift. After welding onto the Deck, the SSCV performed miscellaneous activities to complete the scope and remained on station until platform habitation was complete.
